Thinking about block-work and the similarities to weaving. Two incremental systems of building that develop in horizontal striations. (One of my favorite Joseph Albers works: "America" brick wall at the Harvard Graduate Center)
Spent yesterday checking on works that will open at the A & D Center at the #psartmuseum this Saturday. The show has several works that were produced here at A-Z West and a wonderful collection of maps, photos, books and brochures curated by @sarahbrookehodge that explore the grid and settlement patterns in the high desert. If you are in The lower desert this spring check it out at the Palm Springs Art Museum Architecture and Design Center, March 11 – May 22, 2017⠀
More in-progress images of a new work here at A-Z West that will be permanently open to the public. Just hit the halfway mark last week! originally all of the units were going to be concentrated on a ten acre parcel, but I'm moving some of the structures over to adjacent acreage this week. Always learning new things about scale from working in this landscape. Thanks to #VIA and #guggenheimfellowship for the support to make this work.
